Are you planning to import a used car into Kenya?
Understanding your total import taxes has never been more critical. With the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) publishing a new CRSP (Current Retail Selling Price) list effective July 1st, 2025, vehicle import duties are changing—and so should how you calculate them.
We’ve developed Kenya’s most accurate and up-to-date Motor Vehicle Import Duty Calculator to help importers, car dealers, and individuals compute all required taxes in one place.
📣 July 2025 CRSP Update by KRA
The Customs and Border Control Department of KRA has announced that a new CRSP schedule will take effect from July 1st, 2025. The CRSP is the foundation for calculating customs value, and therefore affects how much duty and taxes you’ll pay when importing used vehicles.
“The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) wishes to inform the public that, effective 1st July 2025, a new CRSP schedule will be applied in the computation of customs value for used motor vehicles imported into the country… Importers and stakeholders are encouraged to visit the KRA website to familiarize themselves with the changes.”
Why it matters:
The CRSP price directly affects how much you’ll pay in Import Duty, Excise Duty, VAT, IDF Fee, and the Railway Development Levy (RDL). Even a small adjustment in CRSP can mean tens of thousands of shillings in extra taxes.
